Jim "Poppy" Boyd and The Mixed Bag Band are pioneers in the the fusion of many influences, listening roots, and creative experimental blends of varied styles of music into our own sound! We strive to make every song different and rich with instruments you don't always hear. In the process we have discovered the slap jug, an electric kazoo with distortion effects, our drummers grandma's spoons, the jaw harp, slide mandolin, a waste basket, the cabinet door, and others that we'll let you guess. Humor and a lightness of spirit are essential elements in what we do. Our songs poke fun, make social comment, and pay homage to those who have taught and influenced us along the way. We also are guilty of attempting to make you feel, dance, and sing along whenever and wherever the spirit of this music moves.
